Ingredients

2–3 lbs chicken drumsticks (about 8–10 drumsticks)
1 tsp kosher salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 cup BBQ sauce (use your favorite)
Optional Flavor Boost:
1 tbsp honey or 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker
  • parchment paper or foil optional but recommended
  • tongs
  • Sheet pan

Method

Season the Chicken
Pat the drumsticks dry and season with:
      salt
        pepper
          garlic powder
            onion powder
              Add to Slow Cooker
Place drumsticks in the slow cooker. They can overlap slightly — that’s totally fine.
Pour about ¾ cup BBQ sauce over the chicken.
                    Cook
                      Cook on:
LOW: 5–6 hours or HIGH: 3-4 hours
Chicken should be tender and fully cooked.
                            Broil for Sticky Char Finish:
                              Preheat oven broiler.
Place drumsticks on a foil-lined baking sheet.
                                  Brush with remaining BBQ sauce.
Broil 4–6 minutes, turning once, until the sauce bubbles and caramelizes.
This step gives the chicken that sticky BBQ finish.

                                        Notes

                                        • Drumsticks can overlap in the slow cooker — no need to layer perfectly
                                        • Broiling is key for texture — don’t skip if you want that BBQ feel
                                        • Use a thicker BBQ sauce for better caramelization
                                        • Watch closely while broiling — sauce can burn quickly
